Do I need to be a member of the services to study at ADFA?
The short answer is No!
As you may be aware, undergraduate study at ADFA is only open to members of the services. But you do not need to be in the services to undertake postgraduate study at ADFA, and in fact the large majority of our postgraduate students (and our staff) are civilians.
In many ways, the college is a typical academic institution transplanted
into a military environment. Of course, if you are completely unsympathetic
to the military way of life, it is probably not the place for you. For most
of our postgraduate students, the military aspects of the academy have few
impacts on their lives, and these are more likely to be positive (superb
sporting facilities, for example) than negative.
