| Abstract | We propose an approach to enhance performance and reliability of the Internet by means of multipath data transmission. We formulate the optimal multipath data transmission problem as a Markov Decision Process (MDP) and propose an algorithm to solve the formulated MDP on the fly. We have verified the approach using simulation with ns-2 and data collected from real wired/wireless networks. The results indicate that the proposed approach can significantly increase the performance (with respect to classical approaches) and reliability of end-to-end communications. |
