| Abstract | Information and communication technologies will radically alter the nature of university teaching. Far from making university teachers redundant, though, ready access to information and academic resources will increase the need for skilled teachers who are able to facilitate student learning. However, realising the potential of the new technologies to facilitate student learning will require a reconceptualisation of the nature of teaching and the way students learn. The seminar will review some of the current technologies available to university teachers in the context of both current developments in higher education and what is accepted as good teaching practice and will discuss a framework for higher education based on learning rather than teaching. |
