| Abstract | This seminar will focus on two important concepts in a WebCT environment: interactivity and interaction. Interactivity is a process whereby students are systematically encouraged to become active participants in their own learning. It is achieved by teaching approaches that engage students in learning activities that assist them in the construction of knowledge in the subject they are studying. WebCT tools such as Student Notes, Quizzes, Targets, Glossaries, Sources, and Discussion links from the Notes will be considered. Interaction is associated with communication within a WebCT environment and this segment will focus particularly on e-moderating, a competency increasingly required of online teachers, that encompasses strategies of initiating, promoting, structuring and managing computer mediated communication. Strategies associated with WebCT tools such as Discussions, Mail, Chat and Whiteboard will be referred to. |
